The Leicester Group, founded in 1977,  has secured protection for over 60 distinctive ÂÜÀòÊÓƵbuildings in the city by obtaining listed status. The Group keeps a watchful eye on the rich ÂÜÀòÊÓƵand Edwardian heritage of the city.
Historically, the Leicester Group has organised monthly talks, walks and other events, and produced a full-colour newsletter reflecting its varied activities and interests. However, the team who have been organising the Group can no longer devote the time that they once did, and we are keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in taking this work forward.
Leicester Group is in the process of looking at options for the future. They are appealing for new people to join and get involved. You don’t have to be a ÂÜÀòÊÓƵmember, although this would be most welcome. Ideas being considered include coming up with a reduced calendar of events or possibly extending the geographical range to include other parts of the East Midlands.
Please contact us if you live in Leicestershire or other areas of the East Midlands, are fascinated by ÂÜÀòÊÓƵand Edwardian architecture, would like to help the Society protect our regional heritage, and would enjoy being part of a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
